If it's not on insta, did it really happen?
Let's be honest, we love to travel and take in the culture, food, and atmosphere. We love to live in the moment and enjoy it. We love that moment so much that we want to document it. No shame in that! And yes, we love to show people what we're up to, especially if it's way better than whatever they're doing right now (neener neener). We are vein and selfish, but we love it. All jokes aside, I love looking at travel posts, as do others! We live through others and it can help us discover places we want to go that we never even thought of before.
Florence, in my opinion, is one of the most instagrammable cities in the world. Between the museums, the food, and the streets, nothing screams Italy more than Florence. Here are some key spots to catch that amazing insta-worthy shot:
1. Ponte Vecchio

First stop, the glorious Ponte Vecchio. It is a dream come true! A bridge devoted to shopping, gold, and jewelry? YES PLEASE! If you have the patience, wiggle your way through the crowds and find a spot on the bridge to take a pic. Patience is key here since it's so crowded, but so worth it!
2. Boboli Gardens

These are a hidden gem in Florence. Right in the heart of Florence, a bit beyond the Ponte Vecchio, is the Boboli Gardens. The Boboli Gardens is home to a collection of sculptures dating from the 16th through the 18th centuries, with some Roman antiquities. It's one of the most beautiful gardens in all of Italy. Venture in to get lost in the trees, hedges, flowers, and fountains! It's truly out of a fairytale (but without the talking mice).
3. Piazzale Michelangelo

A bit of a hike, but glorious! Once you reach the top, wipe that sweat away (that reminds you how out of shape you are, no shame!) and strike a pose with the most beautiful backdrop in Florence. Piazzale Michelangelo is a square with a panoramic view of Florence. The Duomo, Santa Croce, Ponte Vecchio and more can be spotted from this square. Bring some wine, some pizza/paninis, and watch the sunset over Florence (and get some killer shots)!
4. Base of Duomo

The Duomo is one of the most intricate buildings I've ever seen. I grabbed some gelato and just stared at the building for about 20 minutes (and yes, it totally melted down my hand and made a huge mess). The greenish-turquoise lines with the red brick may seem like they clash, but are actually mesmerizing. If your photographer loves you enough, have them kneel/sit on the ground to take a photo. I wasn't able to get that angle, but it looks incredible with the Duomo looming above you.
5. Top of Duomo

Last but certainly not least, on top of the world. Just kidding, on top of the DUOMO. Pay the 8 euros to hike to the top of the Duomo (where I was reminded, once again, that I needed to get my butt to the gym) to see all of Florence! The smile in the photo isn't even fake, it was that phenomenal to look at (and I was so happy to be done climbing). Don't let the climb deter you, it's absolutely worth it (unless you're claustrophobic, then ya reconsider).
Phenomenal views, phenomenal food, and phenomenal museums. Florence is the place to be! Just a short train ride from Rome (or Venice) and smack dab in the heart of Tuscany. If anything, do it for the gram ;)
