Ok, so you can clearly tell I've mostly traveled Europe and the US. Tropical destinations are next on my tackle list! But I just love European history. It also helps that most of Europe speaks English, so it's easy for me to get around. Plus tickets are cheaper to Europe than they are to Asia. I'm 22, so I've got a long way to go.
Anyways, packing for Europe (especially for a longer trip) can be tricky. Different cultures means different fashion and different standards. No one wants to be the awkward tourist wearing running shorts and sneakers in the elegant museum. Here's some tips to help you pack and look fashionable:
1. Color Palette

To make packing light, pick a color palette! Whether it's black and white, navy and tan/brown, white and blue, it all works wonderfully together. This way, you can mix and match pieces! One skirt can go with 2 shirts, or one pair of shoes can help create six outfits. Using a color palette that is predominately neutral colors (grey, white, blue, tan, black) helps your outfits go a long way. Plus it helps you fit in a bit more, bright colors make tourists stand out! But don't be afraid to pop a bit of color in there ;) I went with navy, white, black, and tan with a hint of red. These shirts were super easy to roll up and could be worn with the same pair of jeans and shoes (don't worry, I promise I washed them).
2. Layers

Color palette can help conquer this one, but it's also important for weather. One day could be 80 degrees and the next day could be 60 (as I learned the hard way, pit stains for dayyyyys). Layers help solve this problem, plus you look super chic (layers are totally in). Side note, some museums and churches require legs and shoulders to be covered, layers are an easy way to cover them up, but you can take them off once your done!
3. Cuteness AND Comfort

Europeans tend to dress nicer than Americans. Athleisure wear is definitely an American trend. While looking nicer is important, so is comfort. Don't pack a brand new pair of shoes that have never been broken in or jeans that are too tight and are uncomfortable to walk around in. Balance is key, and is totally possible nowadays!
4. No Cliches

Fanny packs, shorts, leggings, white socks, baseball caps, neon colored clothing, forget it ALL. Yes, you stick out like a sore thumb and it could be embarrassing. But you know what's worse? It makes you stand out as a target. Pit-pocketing, mugging, and unwanted salesmen will approach you. It's as if you have a neon sign behind you flashing TOURIST! TOURIST! TOURIST! As a tourist, they know you're going to be distracted (or gullible), and crooks see this as an opportunity to take advantage of you.
Keep these tips in mind while packing and you'll rock your European trip in STYLE!
